Learning a Shop - Knowing Which Items To Get

So you have a shop you want to try out, but aren't sure what items you should look for? There's no quick answer to this unless the shop stocks barely any items as it is (i.e. Royal Potionery). For most other shops, you need to do a little research, or you can learn as you go.

By research, I mean you should check up the items in a shop and pinpoint the profitable ones. You can find extensive items databases at both NeoItems.net and JellyNeo.net's Item Database (both sites require you to create an account, but trust me, it's worth it!). You can search the databases by item type, which is what I suggest you do, and set the "Sort By" option to "Rarity". The most profitable items you can restock in a shop generally lies within rarities 90-99 (it is still debated whether r100 items actually restock). Generally I concentrate on rarities 98 and 99. Both databases also come with a handy estimated value of the item, but do take this with a grain of salt as the price can be wrong or outdated. Items within this range are usually good for profit, but if you want to be sure, I suggest you check them up using the Shop Wizard or Trading Post to make sure they are actually profitable. Now memorize this list, or look it over once in a while, and you're set!

If you don't want to do that much work to find the good items in a shop, you can learn a shop just by restocking in it for a while. Good indications of profitable items can be found from the quantity in stock and cost of the item. Typically you want to restock an item that stocks in low quantity (usually 1 per restock), and has a high price. However, there are exceptions to both rules. For example, in shops like pharmacy or toy (when the Usukicon Gift Bags came out), good items can restock in high quantities. Shops in which high prices are no help include Battle Magic and Defense Magic. Note that the two latter shops are both notorious for being hard and annoying to learn since new restockers in these shops (including myself) tend to lose a lot of np by mistakenly buying something that was unprofitable.

Pricing in shops does follow a set pattern that reflects rarity, so you can gauge a bit of information from that. The system runs as follows, with the following prices setting the minimum prices at which an item within that rarity can restock. Note that many items stock at prices significantly higher than these minimums.

  • 100 NP - Low rarity (up to r78)
  • 250 NP - Around Rarities 79-80
  • 2,500 NP - Rarity 81-89
  • 5,000 NP - Rarity 90-95
  • 10,000 NP - Rarity 95+

Any shop takes a bit of time to learn, but that is all part of the game. I highly suggest you actually check up the profitable items as I mentioned above, because that will give you items to really watch for as you restock.
