Site History

NeoFaerie was started on September 15, 2007. To be honest I was really just bored and procrastinating from homework so I thought I'd just start a website. xD I never imagined this little pet project of mine would grow to what it has, and I am really grateful for all the support from my friends, affiliates, and most of all, my visitors.

Originally NeoFaerie was meant to be solely a graphics site, and I focused on making user lookups first. They seemed to be the most popular request I received so I figured they would also be most popular as premades. When pressed for time I also did some smaller graphics such as backgrounds, blinkies, etc. With the second layout for the site I am planning to make more layouts such as guild, shop, and gallery layouts.

Eventually it occurred to me to write a guide about restocking because I have enjoyed some success restocking and many other players have often asked me for tips, shop recommendations, etc. I was basically fed up with giving the same response again and again so I decided to just write a guide and direct them here. At the moment I still have much to do on it since the shops database is still far from complete.

NeoFaerie's first layout was a simple 2 column design. Lots of brushes; lots of purple. I wanted a unique look from most fansites.

Domain

I really didn't spend much time on thinking up a nice, unique domain name (can you tell? xD). Basically I wanted it to have "neo" in the domain name since I wanted to restrict this site solely to Neopets stuff. I also like faeries...so tada, NeoFaerie was born.

The first host I used, NearlyFreeSpeech, was basically pay as you go, since I figured at the beginning I wouldn't be using much bandwidth at all. Of course, using such a host meant I had to outsource all my graphics, which really isn't ideal. With the growth NeoFaerie has seen in traffic, I decided to just put down some money for a better host.

Currently NeoFaerie is hosted at DreamHost and all graphics will be hosted myself. Because of the nature of the graphics services here, I can't really ban hotlinking my images, so I will really be enjoying that nice bandwidth I am paying for. :P
